REGULAR MEETING MINUTES

March 22, 2023

 

Board Member, Cathy Beck, called the meeting to order at 3:00 P.M.  Board Members, Margaret Henningsen and Jana Hare were present. Also in attendance were Head Teacher, Shannon Olson and Administrative Assistant, Sue Hite.

 

Pledge of Allegiance

Unscheduled Public Appearance:  Nicole Stillbert.

Minutes:  Cathy made a motion to approve the March 1, 2023 meeting minutes, Margaret seconded.

Financial:  Margaret made a motion to approve payment of Voucher #9117, Cathy seconded.

Head Teacher Report:

Maintenance:  Board agreed that Danny should order another load of gravel for school parking lot.

New Business:

Board adjourned into an executive session to discuss employee staffing agreements and

certified contract at 4:08 P.M.  Board readjourned into regular meeting at 4:45 P.M.

  1. Employee Staffing Agreements were signed.
  2. 2023/24 School Calendar was discussed with a starting date for Head Teacher of August 14, 2023 agreed upon.
  3. Employee health insurance FY 23/24 renewal was signed.
  4. Certified Employee contract FY 23/24 was signed.
  5. Open Enrollment. Cathy made a motion that the district will not have any excess capacity for nonresident students for the 2023/2024 school year, Margaret seconded.
  6. Approved IGA from Yavapai County Educational Services.

March 1, 2023

 

Due to weather conditions, members of the Governing Board attended via Teams Meeting.

Board Member, Cathy Beck, called the meeting to order at 4:00 P.M.  Board Members Margaret Henningsen and Jana Hare were present. Also in attendance were Head Teacher, Shannon Olson and Administrative Assistant, Sue Hite.

 

Pledge of Allegiance

Unscheduled Public Appearance:  Nicole Stillbert.

Minutes:  Cathy made a motion to approve the January 9, 2023 meeting minutes, Margaret seconded.

Financial:  Margaret made a motion to approve the ratification of Accounts Payable Vouchers #9113, #9114, #9115 and approve payment of Voucher #9116, Cathy seconded.

Head Teacher Report:  Board approved a $50.00 charge for online Science of Reading training for Danielle.

Maintenance:  Teacherage repairs, School Safety Improvements, School repairs

Old Business

New Business:

  1. Policy Advisories – 739-743 Adopted.
  2. Shannon will revise the district Student Attendance letter to include the actual number of days absent.
  3. Sue will talk to the Yavapai County Library District about Wi-Fi and this topic will be revisited at another board meeting.
  4. Approved Annual Waiver from Yavapai County Attorney’s Office.
  5. Approved IGA from Yavapai County Educational Services.

The next Regular Board Meeting will be held on March 22, 2023.

Margaret Henningsen made a motion to elect Cathy Beck as Board President for a one-year term, Jana Hare seconded, Cathy accepted.

 

Board President, Cathy Beck, called the meeting to order at 4:00 P.M.  Board Members Margaret Henningsen and Jana Hare were present. Also in attendance was Administrative Assistant, Sue Hite.

December 21, 2022

Cathy Beck, as temporary President, called the meeting to order at 4:00 P.M.  Board President, Kris Gray was absent. Board Member, Margaret Henningsen was present.  Also in attendance was Administrative Assistant, Sue Hite.

Unscheduled Public Appearance:  None.

Minutes:  Margaret made a motion to approve the November 16, 2022 meeting minutes, Cathy seconded.

Financial: Cathy made a motion to approve Accounts Payable Voucher #9111, Margaret seconded.

 

Head Teacher Report:  Cathy made a motion that the board approve the purchase of a new reading curriculum, Amplify to meet Move On When Reading Requirements, Margaret seconded.

The five-year subscription will total $27,712.80 and be paid with ESSER II grant funds.

In addition, the board agreed to renew our BrainPOP subscription and add BrainPOP Jr. which totals $405.00 and will also be paid with ESSER II grant funds.

New Business:

  1. Policy Advisories – 737-738- Reviewed
  2. Crown King Water Company billing on teacherage. Cathy made a motion to refund teacherage water payments, Margaret seconded.
  3. Hiring of Classified Employee – Cathy made a motion to hire Christine DeWitte as Administrative Assistant, Margaret seconded.
  4. Schedule an Organization Meeting between the 1st and 15th of January for the president elect.  The board agreed tentatively to meet on January 9, 2022.
  5. NTIA National Broadband Map Update

November 16, 2022

 

Margaret Henningsen, as temporary President, called the meeting to order at 4:00 P.M.  Board President, Kris Gray was absent.  Board Member, Cathy Beck was present.  Also in attendance were Administrative Assistant, Sue Hite and Maintenance, Danny Hill.

 

Pledge of Allegiance

Unscheduled Public Appearance:  None.

Danny Hill presented the playground project status and next steps.  The board agreed that Danny should

order gravel for the handicap ramp.  Cathy will pursue a quote from Versacourt.

Danny left the meeting at 5:00 P.M.

 

Minutes:  Margaret made a motion to approve the October 19, 2022 meeting minutes, Cathy seconded.

Financial: Cathy made a motion to approve Accounts Payable Voucher #9110 and ratification of Accounts Payable Vouchers #9108 and #9109, Margaret seconded.

 

Head Teacher, Shannon Olson was present at 5:10 P.M.

Head Teacher Report:  The holiday program will be held on December 20th at 5:00 P.M.

Shannon presented the board with information regarding reading curriculum resources that will comply with state requirements.  She will return with specific costs.  The board agreed that this was a good use of ESSER II grant funds.

 

New Business:

  1. ESSER II grant – Discuss Budget revision.
  2. Policy Advisories – 737-738- Review. Postponed.
  3. The board discussed district administrative duties. Cathy will contact Tim Carter and Sue will contact YCESA staff concerning administrative support.
  4. Playground status and next steps
